Big Brown's Big Mistake

(Da'Tara wins the 2008 Belmont Stakes)
-
Shock. Absolute, dissapointing, disbelieving shock. This is more surprising than Smarty Jones's loss in 2004. Big Brown pulled a War Pass-in-the-Tampa Bay Derby today. It was like watching an instant replay of that race. Da'Tara, on the other hand ran very impressively. But it almost seems as though no one cares about that. All eyes and ears are on Big Brown, wondering if there's something serious wrong. If there is, horse racing may never fully recover from this season. My best guess though, is that there was just no gas in BB's tank today, and sometimes it can be as simple as that. I can assure you that all the members of PETA are sitting around just waiting for news on Big Brown, wondering if they'll come away with more ammunition for their fight against the sport. I will update on his condition as soon as anyone knows anything.

Until then, here's to Da'Tara and the bright future he may have in the wake of this race. He looked every bit champion out there.

PS, Casino Drive did scratch, but he's doing just fine.
