Another good turf horse coming in with a good performance on the synthetic. Adriano was the center of a good deal of hype when Edgar Prado, who rode Barbaro in 2006, chose him over all his other possible Derby mounts, which included Tale of Ekati and Monba. This horse looked most impressive in the Lane's End, but again, not so solid on the dirt so far. He didn't run well in the Fountain of Youth Stakes, and unlike Monba, was not surrounded by good excuse. However, like every other horse in this field, he earned his way here, and there is no reason he shouldn't get a shot. And he could do really well, or he could put up a dismal effort on the Churchill dirt.
