(left: Gayego is the Arkansas Derby winner)
Colonel John is looking better, and he didn't even run today. Gayego ran a fine race to win by one over Z Fortune in the Arkansas Derby, and in his last outing, was second to Georgie Boy in the San Felipe. Of course, GB was up there with Colonel John and El Gato Malo as the top three of the west. Z Fortune has a wider trip, and may have been the better horse today, so he is on the right track for the Kentucky Derby as well. Final order of finish was (parentheses indicate my predictions):
1. Gayego (1)
2. Z Fortune (2)
3. Tres Borrachos
4. Indian Sun
5. My Pal Charlie (5)
6. Isabull
7. Golden Yank
8. Blackberry Road (3)
9. King's Silver Son
10. Jazz in the Park
11. Ablaze with Spirit
12. Liberty Bull (4)
13. Shekinah
